British Imperial Assets in Japan State Their Intentions for War on China

Jan. 9, 2014 (LPAC) — The imperial faction in Japan has declared its intention to militarily and economically confront China, while denouncing “certain voices within the U.S. government” which are acting to end the British/Obama war plan against China. Speaking through an editorial in the leading conservative newspaper {Yomiuri Shimbun} today, this faction demands that the U.S. carry through on the two policies intended by President Obama to encircle and confront China — the military “pivot,” and the free-trade pact, the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).

The editorial pulls no punches: China is attempting to “change the status quo by force,” and is committed to “expansionism, as seen in its unilateral announcement of an air defense identification zone.” The U.S. pivot and the TTP were the necessary policies to confront this threat from China, they write, acknowledging that both were directly aimed at China (despite denials from Washington). On the TTP, they state outright that its intent is to “create a new free trade zone in the Asia-Pacific region with the United States and Japan taking the central roles.”  They add: “If the military plans or the trade accord, or both, become reality, they will have a strong restraining effect on China’s moves to seek hegemony in the region.”

The problem, say these British Imperial assets, is Obama’s “weak domestic political foundation,” while his failure to attack Syria is “feeding distrust of the Obama administration.” Also, “war fatigue in U.S. society has generated a tendency among the public to dislike U.S. intervention and engagement in other countries’ affairs.” China, they argue, is taking advantage of this weakness in pursuit of its devious mission, as expressed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, whose call for “a new type of great-power relationship” between China and the U.S. is actually a “scheme for dividing the Asia-Pacific region in two, having the United States effectively approve the expansion of China’s sphere of influence in the western Pacific.”

They conclude: “It is worrisome that certain voices within the U.S. government seem to call for the country to side with China’s scheme of forging a new type of relationship between the two. Such calls are probably made in consideration of the two countries’ mutual economic dependence. Few countries — let alone U.S. allies such as Japan, South Korea, Australia and the Philippines –w ould be willing to accept a new international order led by China in place of the United States. We hope Washington makes a cautious response.”

This outburst clearly indicates that the oligarchy is worried that the overwheming denunciation, both within Japan and in the U.S., of Prime Minister Abe’s provocative visit to the Yasukuni Shrine, may convince Abe to step away from his right-wing advisors, in favor of Japan’s obvious self-interest in aligning with China and Eurasia.

It is well to remember the British intervention in Japan in the 1890s and 1900s, to subvert the U.S. influence in the Meiji Restoration, and recruit Japan as an ally in British imperial policies against Russia and China, was intended to divide Eurasia, and set in motion both genocidal World Wars of the 20th Century. Sane voices in Japan and the U.S. must listen to the wise words of Lyndon LaRouche at this moment of onrushing thermonuclear war, to join forces with China and Russia in global peace and development.

Terrorist Actions in the Philippines – Will Obama Join Another War

September 26, 2013 (LPAC) — For the last two weeks, a band of Islamic fighters from the MNLF (Moro National Liberation Front) in the southern Philippine island of Mindanao, have occupied a part of Zamboanga, one of the major cities, carrying out a continuous gun battle with federal army troops, and leaving several dozen civilians and soldiers dead, hundreds wounded, and over 100,000 displaced. The MNLF had been at peace (generally) with the government since the 1990s, and ran a semi-autonomous region of Mindanao. However, the government (with big support from U.S. NGOs and Quangos) has shifted to deal-making with the opposing Moro group, the MILF (Moro Islamic National Front), instead, which drove the MNLF to assert itself, first by an insane “invasion” of a contested area in Malaysia, and now by the attack on Zamboanga.

The fighting also spread, as MNLF and another faction, called the BIFF (Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters — a split-off of the MILF which rejected the peace talks with the government), attacked another major city, Cotabato, with a small number of casualties. While the governemnt has claimed things are under control, former Philippine Constabulary chief, retired Maj. Gen. Ramon Montano, told the press that “Mindanao is now in a state of war.”

A major question has now arisen: where did the extensive ammunition and other logistical capacities to sustain such a long battle come from? It is apparent that outside forces are arming the rebels, although it is unclear from where. Saudi Arabia is an obvious place to begin the search.

With Obama planning to visit the Philippines on October 10 as part of his Asia tour (attending the APEC meeting in Indonesia, and stopping in Brunei and Malaysia), Filipinos are concerned that he may use the trip to offer more military “assistance” to deal with the uprising — i.e., to start another war. Already the puppet Noynoy Aquino government in Manila has essentially ripped up the nation’s Constitutional rejection of foreign bases by allowing U.S. military ships, planes, and troops to reoccupy the old U.S. military bases, and others, under the fraud that they are “rotating” and not permanent.

The “Two Mustaches” to appear in Manila

In light of these developments, The Philippine LaRouche Society is preparing for the Oct. 10 visit of President Obama with a banner, which will also be posted on their website, of the “two mustaches” — Obama and President Aquino, side by side, each with the Hitler mustach. At the top of the banner it reads: “Oust US military from Philippine soil.” Below Obama’s picture it says: “War Freak,” and under Aquino’s: “War Freak’s Freak.”

Philippines Alerted on War Danger

Feb. 3, 2013 (LPAC)–Mike Billington was interviewed on the Butch Valdes nationwide radio show in Manila, Philippines, this morning on the heightened war danger in the Mideast, reviewing the British/Obama alliance with al Qaeda and the new provocation of Israel’s bombing of Syria, coordinated with Tony Blair and Obama. He discussed the endless ploys to force Russia and China to back down to the new imperial world empire spreading across the Mideast and now into Africa, with Asia already being set up as the next target, driven by the final, ongoing collapse of the western financial system.

Mike was asked by the team in the studio with Butch about Philippine President Aquino’s love affair with Obama, and the fact that many Filipinos are delighted that Obama is opening up the immigration system, which will help the millions of Filipinos in the U.S. Mike said that immigrants are and always have been the life blood of America, but that the problem is the dumbing down of the populations in the U.S. and worldwide to think only in terms of single issues, acting like trained dogs who respond to a treat, even while their human capacity to think and contribute to the future of mankind is being destroyed by a degenerate culture. The only result would be free immigration into a nation which is killing its citizens and launching world war.

Asked how much support existed for Glass-Steagall and stopping Obama, Mike reported on the New Paradigm conferences, the Walter Jones resolutions, LPAC’s role in the Congress, and the Court ruling against Obama’s dictatorship, making clear that it is not a matter of betting on the possibilities, but on doing everything, by everyone, internationally, to make this work.

Asked about the role of Germany, given the history of hyperinflation in 1923, Mike discussed the failure of leadership, but noted that our work had placed Glass-Steagall on the table in every forum in Europe, forcing the oligarchy to scramble to find some phony substitute. Asked about the role of the Philippines in the Obama push for war on China, Mike discussed the support of the fawning leadership in the Philippines for Obama’s war policy, and urged the listeners to take action to convey both the danger and the solution by working with Butch and the Philippine LaRouche Society to restore sovereignty to the nation.

The Aquino Murder in Whose Interest

The Aquino murder in whose interest?

by Richard Katz

The Aug. 21 airport assassination of Philippines opposition leader Benigno Aquino has been used to mount a new round of destabilization against President Ferdinand Marcos and his program for economic development. The campaign to remove Marcos and tum the Philippines into a new Iran is being run by a coalition joining oligarchic families with Maoists and Jesuit priests. with the assistance of the International Monetary Fund and the U.S. State Department. The Western press accuses Marcos of ordering the assassination, but he did not stand to benefit. Indeed, his government is now being weakened by the accusations. Pressure is growing on President Reagan to cancel the trip to the Philippines he has scheduled for November. Congressman Stephen Solarz (D-N.Y.), a longtime Marcos foe who will visit the Philippines in September, has called for an “impartial” investigation of the killing, warning of problems for the $900 million aid package in Congress.

The State Department has already announced in warning tones that it “trusts” Marcos will launch a full and impartial investigation, thus acting, as one Washington source put it, “like they acted with the Shah of Iran. They are nominally supporting him, but are in fact undercutting him.” During Secretary of State George Shultz’s trip to Manila this June, he told reporters on the plane that his subordinates would meet with opposition leaders, lest the United States be caught short, as in Iran, when Marcos falls or dies. Philippines sources say that Aquino’s funeral on Aug. 28 may be spark a prolonged campaign of demonstrations and terrorism to bring down Marcos. Philippines opposition Aquino was the most prominent of the opposition leaders against Marcos’s rule; a decade of martial law ended only recently. The opposition movement ranges from the radical Maoists of the New People’s Army and the Libyan-armed Muslim autonomy rebels in the Philippines’ southern islands, to the Jesuit order and Cardinal Jaimie Sin, to right-wing plantation-owning families. The common denominator of all groupings is opposition to the president’s efforts to industrialize the country .

Aquino himself, though sentenced to death for an alleged political murder, was allowed by Marcos to leave the Philippines three years ago in order to get a heart operation in the United States. Aquino remained in the United States as an instructor at Harvard, and later MIT. He was sponsored by Harvard’s Jerome Cohen, a prominent figure in efforts to undermine modernization in Korea as well as the Philippines, and a major proponent of Henry Kissinger and Zbigniew Brzezinski’s “China Card” policy. Aquino was also in continual contact with the State Department. Despite warnings from the Philippines goverment and his own supporters that he might be killed, Aquino chose to return to the Philippines in order to ignite a mass campaign to bring down Marcos. He told friends on the plane that he might be killed but that he did not expect Marcos would be responsible. He suggested two other possibilities: either the extremists within the opposition movement trying to “radicalize” that movement, or else a faction of the army worried that Aquino would be the strongest contender for succession once Marcos dies.

Shultz’s role

Whoever planned the pulling of the trigger, the assassination of Aquino is the latest stage of pressure on the Marcos government, pressure abetted by the State Department and the IMF and World Bank. In opposition to the plantation owning oligarchic families, who wish to leave the Philippines a raw materials exporter, Marcos had developed an important, albeit flawed, program of industrialization. For example, ten years ago almost all exports were primary commodities; now at least half are manufactured goods. Marcos has also been pursuing nuclear energy, hydroelectric and irrigation dams, and other big industrial construction projects.

The World Bank, charging that such projects are merely boondoggles to enrich Marcos, has pressured the Philippines government to cut down its investment program, to cut its budget, and to devalue its currency. Shultz, on his trip this June, praised the currency devaluation just announced and urged further austerity measures. Shultz is well aware that the economic turmoil caused by such austerity programs undermines popular confidence in Marcos even more.

Under this pressure, in the past few months the Philippines, along with Indonesia and Malaysia countries hitherto developing rapidly despite the world trade depression has had to slash billions of dollars worth of investment projects and subsidies on basic consumers staples that maintain bare subsistence .

Opposition leader Eva Estrada Kalaw told the Washington Post on Aug. 24 that the opposition “moderates” might seek reconciliation with a “decent sector of the government,” naming Prime Minister Cesar Virata. Virata is the World Bank’s man within the regime, and rumors have circulated for weeks that Marcos would like to fire him.

Senior Chinese Diplomat to US – Don’t Push Japan to War, or We May Have US-China War

Oct. 31, 2012 (LPAC) — A senior retired Chinae diplomat, Chen Jian, made a highly advertised public speech, Tuesday, accusing the U.S. of planting a “time bomb” between China and Japan, and warning of a U.S./China war. Chen Jian, who served as China’s Ambassador to Japan, as well as Under Secretary General of the United Nations, said that the “time bomb planted by the U.S. between China and Japan… is now exploding or aboout to explode.”

The U.S. policy, including the contradictory stand that the U.S. takes no position in the territorial dispute, but at the same time declares the contested Senkaku/Diaoyu islands to be covered by the U.S.-Japan security treaty, is encouraging the right wing in Japan to take belligerent actions against China. “The U.S. is urging Japan to play a greater role in the region in security terms, not just on economic terms, [which] suits the purpose of the right wing in Japan more than perfectly — their long-term dream is now possible to be realized.”

In regard to the U.S. pivot to Asia and the Obama Administration’s role in pushing the Philippines and others to confront China over territotial issues which previously had been intentionally left aside, Chen Jian asked pointedly: “Will these countries misjudge and draw China and the United States into a confrontation? The danger is apparent, and China needs to be aware of that.”

These are the highest-level remarks from the Chinese leadership establishment which reflect the similar warning from the Russian leadership that Obama’s actions are leading to war.

China is not demanding that the contested islands be returned to China at this point, but only that Japan again express clearly that China has a claim over the islands which has yet to be resolved. China has insisted that a statement of that sort would make it possible to return to the peaceful condition that existed before Japan nationalized the islands from a private Japanese owner in September. However, Prime Minister Noda said at the UN meeting this fall that the islands belonged to Japan and that “there are no territorial issues as such,” thus denying the existence of any Chinese claim.
