Leading Philippine Security Expert Says, Stop Playing Patsy to US; Warns of World War
May 29, 2015 (EIRNS)–Clarita Carlos, former head of the Philippines National Defense College and a regular speaker at US defense fora, warned on May 26 that the Philippines taking sides in the US conflict with China was threating to get them “trampled.” Carlos, according to the Manila Times, said that Washington was engaged in “provocations” against China, naming the recent overflight by a P-8A (flying out of Clark Air Base in the Philippines) over Chinese-held islands in the Spratly/Nansha islands, and sending an aircraft carrier battle group to Japan. “We might get trampled, so let’s get out of the way,” she said.
Carlos added that “There are ongoing talks on different levels, and I wish there won’t be any accident, recklessness or carelessness. That’s where world war starts.”
